Hello all!

Here is my Ford Escort 1994 XR3 2.0i.
In Latin America, Ford and Volkswagen had a join-venture during the 90's.
With this partnership, Volkswagen supplied engines to Ford.
Also, Volkswagen produced 2 cars, based on Ford Escort plataform, they were called Logus and Pointer.
So, my car actually have a 2.0 liter Volkswagen engine, as original standard.
I'll get photos from the engine soon, then I'll share here.

Regards!

Looking good! Are you keeping it original?

Very nice Escort Rafael, looks like the Escort is in a mint condition. Shame there is a Volkswagen enige under the hood, but you can't do anything about it.

Thanks Ray!
Here in Brazil we also have MK4s with original Volkswagen engines...

ZeroLWD,

Only the rims are not original, but I already bought the car with that model. I've lowered a little bit with a coil over kit.
But all other upgrades I made were Ford original parts that were not available in Brazil, like electric sunroof, 3 points rear seat belts, 6 speed windshield whiper, 3rd brake light, new original speakers... (put new headlights from a English Cosworth... the owner changed to Morettes and kept stored the originals for over 10 years, they look like new)...
Besides that, it's all original... (even the rear astray is like new, never used)... PS: I've kept all original parts I've changed...
I even add the original stereo system with equalizer and amplifier, and recaro seats (were optional in Brazil, and my car didn't have them).
Got the manuals and the original invoice from the autodealer... hehehe

Niek-V
It's in great condition... I would say its 99% rust free (hehehe), the paint still original, all main engine parts are original... everything is working (eletric windows, alarm, air conditioning)...
Runs great!!
I'm enjoying it every last minutes... hehehe

Nice mk5! In my opinion this is the best looking escort fwd! especially with the mk5 rs2000 hood.

How much horsepower does it have?

Mr. WOLF,
I really like this model... it is the best for me too!!

The engine is a Volkswagen/Audi 2.0 liter 8 valve (EA827).
1.984cm³
Bore 82,5 mm
Stroke 92,8 mm
10:1 compression ratio

From 1993 to April 1994, the engine had a Bosch LE-Jetronic ECU, non-sequencial 4 injectors, with AFM and open-loop:
85 kW (115 hp) @ 5600 rpm
173 Nm (17,6 kgfm) @ 3200 rpm
(my car was one of the lasts with LE-Jetronic, it was produced in April/94)

From May 1994 to 1995, the engine had a Ford FIC-ECC IV ECU, sequencial 4 injectors, with MAF and close-loop:
88 kW (120 hp) @ 5400 rpm
174 Nm (17,7 kgfm) @ 3400 rpm

Those number are for petrol/gasoline engine.
Here in Brazil, during the 80's and begining of 90's, we had cars running on 100% etanol (alcohol), and thoses engines had a little bit more power, but I don't have the official numbers.
Unfortunately, the consumption was too high and made the fuel economy ridiculous, so they gave up.
